Up to 10 Photos, Videos Can Now Be Included in Facebook Carousel Ads

Facebook recently doubled the the number of images and videos that can be included in its carousel ads from 5 to 10. This move raises a couple of questions when it comes to ads and ad performance:

  • How will this impact performance?
  • Could this possibly lead to information overload and ineffective ads?
  • How do we provide the right information to our customers but still keep them interested in finding out more or exploring our website?

Since this change is still rather new all these questions can only be answered by trying and testing the 10 carousel ads out and evaluating performace.

Facebook’s new teens-only app Lifestage turns bios into video profiles

Facebook recently launched an under-21 only application which will ask its users for their happy face, sad face likes, dislikes, best friend and more and rather than asking users to upload written biographies, it will only allow you to enter these things in videos format so others can watch. While there is no data on how many people have signed up as yet or how the target market even feels about this app:

  • Why is this important to businesses, if at all?
  • Is this worth looking into and keeping up with as a business considering that this app will only be catering to such a young market?

We answer these questions and more in this week’s Afrochat.

Follow the Teens. No, seriously.

Where teenagers go, we should follow. That is what author Katrina Padron says we should do in this article. But is this really the way to go?

  • How to teenagers affect the way businesses run in this day and age?
  • Is it worth trying to market to teenagers when they have such little buyer power?
  • Do we need to follow them on every single platform they are on?

New Data Shows Instagram Stories is Not Slowing Snapchat Use – Yet

New data has shown that there has not been as dramatic a drop in Snapchat use as many had anticipated after the introduction of Instagram Stories. Some argue that Snapchat will eventually start to see a fall in users though as it has only been two weeks since the introduction of Instagram stories while some say they will stick to Snapchat no matter what. This seems to be an “only time will tell” situation, but we still had our two cents in this week’s Afrochat.

Micro Influencers: When Less Is More

As businesses and brands wishing to work with influencers how exactly should we go about choosing the right one? Do we go for one influencer with an audience of 100 000 or do we go for multiple micro influencers with an audience of 5 000 each? There are various things that need to be considered when picking an influencer including:

  • Audience size
  • Engagement rate – both from the influencer’s audience and from influencer to the audience
  • Relevance
  • Relatability

In this week’s Afrochat we explore all these different elements and how they should affect your ultimate decision on what kind of influencer your business needs. Businesses and brands should always be aware of the fact that there is a difference between celebrities and influencers.

3 Ways to Use Live Videos After They’ve Gone Live

We have said this before a couple of times here at Afrodynamics and we will continue to say it, video is the way forward. Live video not only gets you on top of people’s timelines but also helps you convey your business, its culture and what it offers in many different and creative ways.

But what do you do after filming a live video and it perhaps hasn’t reached as many people as you had anticipated or you simply want to publish elsewhere? There are a couple of options:

  • Use your live video on your other social media networks or embed them into blog posts
  • Create “Snackable” videos to promote the longer video
  • Create a Resource Library

There are many other things businesses can do to ensure that their videos reach a wide audience and we should always be on the lookout for how to best get our content out there.
